Hip Hop dance was first invented, more than thirty years ago, in an inner city by a unknown person and has been very popular ever since. There are many different kinds of famous Hip Hop moves, such as The Running Man, Moon Walk, The Sprinkler and the The Can Opener. People all over the world invent different kinds of Hip Hop dances that are all very special.
Hip Hop is one of the many kinds of dances that are all very different and special in their own ways. There are also other ways to do Hip Hop. It can be done in groups or alone. In some kinds of dances you have to do them on a certain type of floor, but with hip hop dancers they could do it on the streets if they wanted to. In fact, people do it on the streets all the time, so that means that people don't even need to have a studio to be a professional Hip Hop dancer. All you need is a boom box.
Today people have Hip Hop dance competitions or [dance offs] all around the world.
